7 Steps to succeed in IM in next 7 days
I am going to give you a complete method or blueprint for next 7 days… It doesn’t matter if you are new to internet marketing or an old hand who knows all the trick (yet somehow never made more than few change).
There’s tons of information for you at the simple click of a mouse, then why aren’t you breaking the bank?
The answer is very simple.
Before I answer the question. Let me ask you…
How many ebooks, teleseminars, or mega products all of them which promised you instant bling bling $$ you have right now…
If you answered more than 1. Then guess what, here lies the problem.
You are not keeping things simple to the basics. There’s too much information around you. You might be too quick to jump on anything with a bling.
Let me tell you a story…
About couple of years ago… One of my friend wanted to know how to make money on internet (She noticed my success and was intrigued by it). She told me, she hate her job and what not… So I taught her blogging and couple of tricks to get traffic.
Well I didn’t heard anything from her for next 20 days or so. After 20 days she told me that she’s made couple of hundred dollars in 20 days…
She was happy about her new venture and well, guess what… she disappeared again (to make more money as she told me later). To cut the story short, in her first 2 months she made $1000.
Now what differentiate her and most of us is exactly this kind of attitude. She took one method and ran along with it… She didn’t subscribed to any newsletter, she didn’t bought any new gadget or $1000 quick fix… nothing, nada, zippo.
So today I am going to make everything very simple for you. There’s no marketing lingo, no geek speak,
Here’s Your Internet Marketing Blueprint for Next 7 Days.
Step 0 : Before you start Here are few ground rules…
I like to put some ground rules before you…
- Stop checking your emails every damn hour (No Seriously Stop checking your emails).
- Stop checking your affiliate account every hour (if there’s wasn’t any cash an hour ago, chances are there isn’t any right now too)
- Don’t read any of the newsletter for next 30 days.. (don’t worry, you won’t miss any instant cash idea or next bling-ed $1000 product).
- Stop visiting any marketing forums for next 10-15 days (Again, you won’t miss any insider information, trust me, you have all the insider info that you need).
- and last but surely not least… Work Hard… If you are thinking you’ll make money while you sleep. Wake up.. it ain’t gonna happen… You have to spend a few nights awake before you could sleep while your cash register rings…
Step 1 : Check your Hard drive…
Check your hard drive and pull out all the PLR ebooks you have. I know you have tons of those… so Dig out all your plr articles, products you have. It’s time you start working on them.
I am using PLR to save lot of my time. Often those plr ebooks are written about a decent market size. So you can be sure it’ll sell.
One quick peek gave me 20 different ideas in Health & Fitness market. Another look into one of my folder gave me 10+ some products in self improvement market.
So there are lots of stuff you have that you can use.
Now, I know you might be wondering, every one and his dog is selling those… how can I compete with them?
Well that brings us to our next step
Step 2: Trim Your PLR product
Pick one of the PLR product idea and research on it. You can read my earlier blog post on How to research your market.
How to Research Your Competition
In most of cases your PLR products have 70+ pages. And trust me you can trim those pages like crazy to make them more valuable (why, of course most of them are same repeated, re-hashed stuff over and over again).
If you do all the editing, it’ll take you couple of hours and it’ll trim it down to 30 pages.
Don’t worry about the size of the ebook/product right now…
Step 3: Fatten up your ebook
Spend another couple of hours fattening up your ebook. Here are few ideas you can improve your ebook.
1. Research on wiki-pedia and add some links to wikipedia and make few related anecdotes from it.
2. Add your own related story or your spouse or neighbours or even your mailman. Like I added my friends story. I could have added my own or few other people I know or taught to make money on net.
3. Find examples of other people’s story related to your product (when you can’t find any stories as talked about in 2nd point). Again you’ll find tons of stories…
$$ NOTE : Heck go to related forums and ask for people’s personal stories. Talk to them how they dealt with the situation… Take a small online interview. You can add this as a bonus chapters (internet marketers have been doing this openly)
You’ll be able to easily add upto 20-30 pages with these tactics.
Step 4: Create a Lead generator Device…
Now you need something that you can give it away for free when someone.
There are few things you can do…
- Write your own lead generator ebook (4-8 pages).
- Get it ghostwritten…
- Go to ezinearticles.com and check related articles. Use them to create a few pages e-report you can give out (of course you have to give links to author but don’t worry about it… share some karma :p).
- Or if you don’t want to give out links to other authors. Re-write the articles in your language on same topics (but I prefer give them as I’ll tell you why).
Step 5 : Create a sales page and lead generation page.
Now don’t get too artsy or too sales or may be try to write the PERFECT sales page… Just write the darn thing down. You can find more good links here
Advanced Sales writing 102. Again don’t get too complicated. I try to stay on QUEST formula (you’ll find link to it) as close as possible.
Step 6: Start on bringing traffic.
Use article marketing, forum marketing, blog commenting to bring in the additional flood.
Now I know some of you might say, article marketing or forum marketing doesn’t work. It isn’t so… just couple of days ago I created a small e-report. And wrote 2 articles on it and submitted to ezine articles… in 24 hrs I generated 284 views sand 40 clicks to my sales page.
Now granted those 40 people didn’t buy but I got 30% of them in my list. That’s 12 subscribers (of course this isn’t the Internet Marketing niche). Now I am adding more articles on daily basis.
My Aim with sales letter to convert at around 1%. If I can convert than I know how much traffic to bring to make my first 100$ with this product.
Moreover I have written tons of articles on this blog about bringing traffic and selling… I suggest you to print’em out and read.
Click here If you want to know how to write articles and market with them.
Never stop promoting (this is one bit of advice that I learnt the hard way). You have to promote yourself on daily basis. Otherwise in few weeks, you’ll wonder where all your traffic and income went.
Work Hard.
My last bit of advice here is Work Hard. It’ll be this. Work hard, play hard. This is the simplest of methods you can use to make money.

Affiliates : Making your website attractive, interesting, engaging and interactive
Whew, I never knew I could use so many adjectives in a row…
Be it a content website or blog or just a product site there are few things you should remember about building sites.
1. Build it for speed: These days almost every one have cable connections and the internet speed is fast. But still you should build websites for people who have 56 kbps phone connection. If you just get rid of heavy images (turn them info gif guys), not use streaming animation/video/audio (at least set them they don’t play on visitors arrival).
I am not fan of High end design websites. May be because I have been affiliate marketer /blogger from start. If Content is your strategy, you want your best content and best foot forward. You’ll not be wasting any time.
Similarly I am not fan of image advertising on blogs/websites.
2. Pin point your Target Market:
One of common mistakes that I have seen (and did it myself) is not targeting my market properly. Be it your site’s motto (USP) or the way it is presented you have to think about your market.
3. Focussed Website : Another mistake is you are trying to do too many things at a time.Make certain your web site is focused on the goal, selling your product or service. A site offering many unrelated products is not necessarily unfocused, but this is often the case. If your business does offer many products, dedicate a unique page for each instead of trying to sell them all from one page.
Top Affiliate Mistake : I’ve seen new affiliates losing the focus of the website. This is one of the main reason why they start out with really bad results (If anyone remembers my story my first check was of $6.17 in 3 months)
You know when you are starting out you tend to overdo in enthusiasm. You sign up bunch of merchants and end up with links to product all over the place.
When you are starting out, chose 1 good merchant and then only promote him. In fact I prefer to promote only 1 merchant per blog as a affiliate.
4 Simple Navigation: I can’t believe how many times I have been to some sites and got confused over navigation. In fact I consider myself a techie guy. Navigation is all about 2 things.
Where you are now….
Where to go next…
If you want to make a sale, you have to remember this. I learnt the importance of navigation by James Martell (I know, I know I might touch a few sour points but his method helped my affiliate sales a LOT).
Understanding how navigation works will increase your sales. These have several purposes
- To allow users to move about within the site
- To tell users what information is available at the link
- To work with location indicators to orientate users
If you remember Old Martell sites, they have great navigation system.
5. Consistency is the key - Make sure the site is consistent in look, feel and design. Nothing is more jarring and disturbing to a customer than feeling as if they have just gone to another site. Keep colors and themes constant throughout the site.
These days you can find really quality designed templates (web 2.0 styled) for cheap that its crazy.
6. Interaction and Web 2.0 : Make your website interactive. Add feedback forms as well as email forms that allow your prospective customers to ask you any questions they might have pertaining to a product.
Allowing your visitors to interact with you, other visitors will help you build towards a great 2.0 websites. That’s why blogs are such a rage…
7. Multiple Touch Points : You have to be able to touch your visitors in many ways. That can be Text, Audio, Video and other methods. You should be able to touch your visitors in many time frames too (multiple contacts with them). That’s why Subscriptions are great idea.
You can use Feed burner to create subscription on your blog. Getresponse and aweber for a website. It’s like my friend(who is great a networking), “If you knock on their doors, they’ll knock on yours”. This was his comment on how to meet people and network not for selling though (if you knock enough doors, few will open)
8. Becoming/Creating an evangelist : Guy Kiyosaki talks about creating an evangelist for your company. Evangelist isn’t a Job title or gathering people. It’s a way of life. The best way is to become a one and then create a one…
According to Guy. It means that the evangelist totally loves the product and sees it as a way to bring the “good news.” I’ve always thought of myself as an evangelist for Martial arts (Specially Taekwon-Do) as it has changed my life.
9. Monitoring and tracking : Understanding what your visitors do on your site is crucial information, not to mention interesting. Start out with google analytics or hittails.com. Install other tracking features like outgoing link tracking. You should have answers to at least these questions.
- Where are they from?
- How are visitors finding your site?
- What traffic is coming from search engines, links from other sites, and other sources?
- What keyword search phrases are they using to find your site?
- What pages are frequented the most - what information are visitors most interested in?
- How do visitors navigate within your web site?
All of this will help you create content, products that are helpful to your market.
10 Building Credibility :
Finally, make sure that you build trust and credibility for your business. We discussed earlier the importance of credibility. Credibility is a key ingredient for any successful business venture. Building and enhancing the credibility of the products and services you offer is an ongoing and full-time effort.
If you just think of how many people will just buy anything that John Reese or Mark Joyner or Brad Callen puts out in the market. All of that because of the credibility they have built.
It’s not one time effort. It’s not overnight. Its something you have to work towards it. Online its more effort. If you screw up, everyone will know about it in a flash. Remember When sony tried to create word of mouth advertising, they took lot of flak for that.
I hope this list helps you create a great website.

There is No Failure in Trying…
I was reading Derek Gehl’s Blog on Marketing Tips. On his blog There is an article written by Jenn Blanchard about 7 topics for a killer viral eBook
Of course she makes great points on writing a killer viral ebook. But a reader on the blog made a really negative comment
If I had valuable information, or if I had the contacts in an industry that you mentioned, I would not be reading your ad in search of a good part-time business. Information on the internet has always been free; that’s why so many people use the net.
When I read that… I wondered how many people must have thought the same way. I responded to that post (which you can read but I’ll copy and paste it here, don’t you worry).
My Comment:
Although this is good advice but I think people reading James snow comment might feel discouraged. as He said, he doesn’t have any connections or info.
But anyways there is no certainty in viral marketing. You have to implement these kinds of methods many time to get that 1 lucky shot that’ll bring you tons of traffic. If your ebook doesn’t get viral. Try once again. If that fails too, try again.
You never fail if you try.. You’ll learn more about getting traffic. There is No Failure in Trying.
Now this is true for all the businesses, in education, in life. You’ll never exactly fail while trying. Failure is a learning process. Don’t forget You’ll fell many times before learning how to stand. Today walking is automatic process for you. If you had stopped trying before you learnt standing… You’d be spending rest of your life on your asses.
Going back to Viral Ebook Methodology.
She gave 7 techniques to write a viral ebook
Idea #1: Industry update report
Idea #2: Industry resource guide
Idea #3: Interviews with industry experts
and so on…
If I was working on this idea, I’d have tried any of the above tip and created a viral ebook. If somehow I failed, I would contemplate what exactly went wrong and try again. In fact I’d have tried all the above methods of write viral ebooks before just signing these ideas as useless.
In fact I’d have researched my own why some people can cause tons of viral traffic. If you notice there are few factors that makes it happen.
Often content is one of the main reasons of making things viral.
- Notice all the people who make things happen in your industry.
- Notice How they are doing things.
- Model their behaviour and repeat success (I said model not copy)
If you are reader of my blog, then you know I advocate lot of Hard work and Then Expectation to succeed.
Work Hard, Expect to Win - is my motto. Even if I am winning I’ll work hard. Why ? Cause its FUN.
More Web site Traffic With This challenge
Can You Succeed With Getting More Web Site Traffic With my Challenge?
In my earlier post we talked about how Traffic+ copywriting+product= Internet Business Success.
So, we all know that in the core of it all, traffic is the most essential thing to a successful Internet based businesses. Aside from ensuring that you have a great product to sell, and you have good copy well taken care of, it would be time to get to the nitty-gritty of things, generating traffic.
If you check out marketing forums, all you hear is one complain “Getting traffic is HARD”. Well, I leave the whiners and moaners alone. If you want to succeed then you better read on.
So I decided to put together a complete tutorial on getting more traffic. It’s going to be a 30 day challenge. Of course it’s going to be hard work. (On side note, if you are not ready to work hard in business, then you better stop wasting your time.)
What You Need for this Traffic Challenge?
1. Grit, Hard work and Patience.
2. A blog (If you STILL don’t have a blog, shame on you)
3. Onlywire.com account (and access/login to all the social networking Websites)
4. Stumbleupon account.
5. 30 Articles
6. A Keyword Research Tool (Ideally word tracker, get a 1 day subscription with wordtracker)
7. Start this Challenge Tomorrow on sunday Or any Week end (or any day where you have whole day off)
Step 0 : Getting The Boring Job Done First.
First step is to get the boring job done. If you don’t have Onlywire.com account and other social networking sites account. Then create one. It’ll take you about 1/2 hour to do so. Hint: Use same login and password for them.
NOTE: Install All in One SEO pack on your Blog.
Create account on these article directories.
ezinearticles.com
goarticles.com
searchwarp.com
ideamarketers.com
Step 1 : Keyword Research with Wordtracker
We are going to start with researching your keywords. Fire up wordtracker and start researching on your keywords. I want you to focus on keywords with 3 or more words in it. i.e You’ll not search for weight loss, you’ll look into keywords like “weight loss after pregnancy”. That’s a 4 word keyword.
You have better chances of getting traffic with this keyword than with the other one. You are supposed to gather at least 40-50 keywords. If you think you can’t find that many words then use thesaurus. Find different keyword combinations.
Think like a normal person looking for information about your topic will search on search engines.
Here are 3 part tutorial I wrote for 30 Day Internet Marketing Challenge.
1. Day 3 : Sink or Swim : keyword research Premier
2. Day 3 : Relation with Themed Keywords and Latent Semantic Analysis(LSA)
3. Day 3: Mining the Goldmine (Long Tail Keywords)
Step 2: Start writing articles focussed on your long tail keywords as researched in first step
This is the exactly the reason I asked you to start this challenge on Weekend (or off day). You need more time today to write articles. I’d suggest you to write at least 7 articles today. If you can write more articles then more power to you… But 7 is minimum number of articles you should write… I’d prefer if you could write 14…
I’d like you to submit/post 1 article per day for next 30 days.
Pick 3-4 different Keywords that you want to focus. You’ll be writing an author box with these keywords with backlink to your blog in it. As you might have guessed we are going to submit articles with Author bios with link to your website or blog.
Step 3 : Post 1 Articles/Day on your blog.
You have to write 1 post per day on your blogs. There is no workaround on this. Again focus on those keywords while posting.
Step 4 : Submit 1 Article Per Day.
I gave you list of 4 article directories that you can use to post. Google tends to like ezinearticles & searchwarp and yahoo goarticles. So that’s why we are focusing on all the 4 directories.
Now here comes the twist. You are going to re-write your articles and post almost unique content to each of these articles.
Eh, Eh… EHHHH……
I know, I know it’s work… but its more fruitful. That’s your only chance of getting more backlinks & targetting multiple keywords without worrying about duplicate content. If you cannot spend much time, then at least re-write for goarticles and ezinearticles.
For more info on how to re-write your articles, Read “Why your bum marketing sucks“.
step 5 : Use Onlywire to Submit your pages to social networking sites.
Last step in this tutorial is to submit your blog post to social networking sites on daily basis. That’s why You have to use onlywire.com to bookmark your blog posts. It’d help you if you are writing good blog post.
How much time you’ll spend on this?
Lets say you start on weekend Saturday. You spend 1 hr on researching your keywords and then 3 articles per hour. You spend 3 more hours writing 9 articles.
So far you have spent 4 hrs on first day. On sunday you again spend 3 hrs writing 9 articles, you’d end up with 18 articles in 7 hours.
Writing 1 blog post every day (maximum time 20 minutes) , Rewriting your already written articles 4 times (10 minutes per article = 40 minutes). That’s total of 1 hr. Submitting your articles, bookmarking posts etc will take you extra 10 minutes.
So in total you are spending 70 minutes per day. For next 30 days. Plus 5-6 hrs on weekend. Of course as you gain experience you’ll be cutting your time down.
This is hard work, that’s why I called this a challenge. If you follow this very simple plan you’ll have 30 blog post, 120 articles distributed around the net.
Getting traffic is simple. All you need to do is create more entry points for your websites.
Traffic + Copywriting + Product = Successful Internet Business
Traffic + Copywriting + Product = Successful Internet Business
If you go over to James Brausch’s blog at Jamesbrausch.org, you’ll be forced to read the above formula. Frankly speaking this formula sums up everything you need to know about succeeding in business.
If you are missing any of the elements you’ll not succeed. Any other combination will never work. But still people are TRYING hard not to complete this formula. They are either spending too much time on copywriting or on creating product or may be trying to get traffic.
Copywriting + Product = No Success
Traffic + Product = Low success
Traffic + Copywriting + = No Success
This goes back to my old post about “Doing One Thing”.
Learn One way to create products In James case, You’ll see he has tons of Audio/Video/Software products. In my Case it’s the Ebooks and Audio. I gave very simple advice to create product in my old posts. Read How to create Products in less than 60 minutes.
Learn One way to Generate traffic Again I have used 2-3 techniques and got tons of traffic to my websites. Just pick one way first and learn how to do it consistently. If you listen to my podcast on Dirty little Secret than you’ll know I discuss about a guy who made $800 in his first month ever.
Learn one way to write copy. Rather than jumping from one copywriting product or copywriting methodology to another. You are better off with only learn One way to creating copy. As for me, I try to follow QUEST method that Michel Fortin explains. More on his 7 Step copywriting formula.
I think no one has explained the Internet business as easier than this.
Get Traffic. Create product Add good copywriting and you are off to your first success.
