The Simplest Blueprint to Internet Marketing Success
When you are starting out in internet marketing, you tend to look into secrets, hidden knowledge and end up wasting your time, money and resources. That’s what happened to me when I started out in early 2004. I spent 13 months without making any profit (I was making money but losing more every month).
Sometimes I think If I have to give myself simple advice, what I’d give?
1. Choosing a Market – I’ll tell myself, don’t try to find obscure niche markets. Go where competition is, go where people are already buying. At least you know what kind of products are selling and what not.
There’s no need to be afraid of competition. Internet is big enough to include you too.
2. Choosing an angle : Michel fortin calls it power positioning, Others call it USP (Unique selling proposition). I prefer to call “Choosing an angle”. Why? It makes easy for you to think and act upon it.
It’s better if you think how you can enter in a market and start selling immediately. Same product, same offer rarely win. Even if you have a better product, it won’t be help at all.
Same blogging course, same weight loss tips, same dog training techniques won’t work for you. Think how you can add to the existing market and profit from it.
3. Create a product : Create a product fast. Do not dilly dally. Do not waste time in getting the perfect product. Get it done. Do not take more than 7 Days to create a product. If you take too much time, your current enthusiasm will drop, your energy will be low and you’ll be surrounded by negativity (I wonder if It’d sell).
Focus on a product and get it done before any negative though process break into you.
4. Start getting traffic and improve conversion : Getting 100 unique visitors per day is not hard in any market. If you improve your conversion to 1% and your product price is $47. You are well onto making $1350 per month. Add few more products and back end. You’ll be able to generate a great livelihood from internet marketing.
5. Consistent Effort : The above figures can be true, if you put consistent effort daily.
You should be spending time out to get traffic.
You should be spending time to write more content (or create product).
You should be spending time to get to know your market.
You should be spending time to think how you can further increase your conversion.
5 Simplest advice I can give you to start right now. Not in the evening, not tomorrow, not when stars are in auspicious alignment.

FTC made Online Business More harder???
FTC is going to regulate their new rules and terms from Dec 1, not very far. This is going to make doing business online a little harder. Their terms for affiliates, case studies, testimonials are way too vague and open to interpretations.
The Funny thing is marketers are using this opportunity to make some more money. Jeff Walker is pulling down his PLF saying all he has “case studies”, without them he won’t be able to sell it.
I was grinning ear to ear while reading his latest email. There’s one thing Internet marketing has taught me, “Sell whenever the damn you can”. It’s great philosophy to understand and live by.
Like someone said “Every communication is an attempt to persuade”. So either you are persuading someone or getting persuaded by someone. And selling is all about persuasion.
Anyways, it’s going to be really interesting to see how it effects the online world at large after Dec 1. So far I haven’t seen any large changes from other marketers. Personally I am not that worried about it.
I know sooner or later someone will hack it and sell an ebook on “How to screw around New FTC regulation?” on $10 on warrior forum (if you can’t catch sarcasm here, you need to socialize more at warrior forum
another sarcasm attempt here).
I’ll keep my eyes open to see the aftermath of this new regulation. Till then…

Difference between Pro and Wannabe’s
My brother Bhanu is an artist, he likes to paint and create new things on canvas. Just recently I got into discussion about selling his creations. There’s a hesitation in him which is not helping his sell more of his stuff and work.
This discussion was all about Pro’s and Wannabe. I was telling him pro takes charge in his life and every step of the way. Wannabe’s sits there and wait for stuff to happen.
Pro is serious about his work and its value. Wannabe is unsure about it.
Pro is dedicated about it 7 days a week, 30 days a month and 365 days a year. Wannabe is a weekend warrior.
My thought was, “If you love your stuff, you should not hesitate to sell. If you are selling, do not hesitate to name your price. It’s your work, create the value for it by yourself”.
And this is exactly the biggest difference in most beginner internet marketers.
They do not take the business of building business online seriously.
They do not think in terms of Profit and Loss in monetary value.
They are buying stuff, expecting things to happen.
So what you can do things differently to make things happen in your favor?
1. Create a Product in your market (I don’t care if you create 10 page ebook, Just do it. On other note I just finished 16 page ebook in 3 hrs)
2. Set advertisements (PPC/PPV/CPA) to bring immediate traffic to your website sales pages.
3. Test your sales letter and find out ways to improve conversion.
Next Steps can be optional.
4. Create content to promote your content.
5. Create more ways to get traffic (blog comments, article marketing, forum comments, SEO, affiliate system etc).
6. Make a goal to at least sell 1% conversion of your sales letter.
If you just do the first 3, you’ll be better than 95% of other marketers. If you do the next 3 steps, you’ll be rarer less than 1% who acts and gets results.
I dare you to try it and see if it doesn’t change your life in next 30 days.
