All the traffic is pointless if you can’t convert.
I know most of you are spending 24/7 to do the SEO, Web 2.0 promotions etc. You just gotta have to do it to get truck loads of traffic. Getting listed in top 10/20 on google, yahoo is great but what you’ll do if you can’t convert visitors into sales.
I know some of you might say “I’ll sell the website or sell ad spaces based on traffic stats so I don’t have to worry about it”. In fact this is what I was told by one of the guy who’s building his site. Of course they are getting good traffic and already selling ad spaces.
But I left wondering, how much money they are leaving on the table… With a proper monetization strategy, they can easily double or tripple their monthly revenue. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if they even quintupled their income. But… ahhh…. they are not interested.
I mean, how come you are not interested in making more money. I would believe if it’s about individual but for a company to be like that… may be “glass ceiling” effects companies too.
Guys, don’t be like them…
What’s your monetization strategy?
Think long and hard about your monetization strategy. Your monetization strategy will largely effect your conversions.
Answer this simple question – How are you going to make money off your website?
- Ad spaces.
- Google adsense
- Selling affiliate products
- Selling your own products
- Building list and selling ad spaces/products through list (So far the best option available).
The above options are the most popular monetization methods. No 5 is the best and needs more effort than others.
How to improve conversions on your page?
My method is based on Create, Influence and sell.
It can be used as Create connections, Influence them and sell.
or create products, influence your visitors and sell.
It all depends on your view point.
1. Create connections : Long gone are the days when there was ugly (or moderately nice) static webpages with no personality. Forget about static pages, think about connectivity with your visitors.
- How can you connect with your visitors?
- How can you attract visitors to your website?
- What you can do to create curiosity in the visitor?
- What can you do to make your visitors feel welcomed to your website?
- What can you do to make them spend more time on your website?
- How can you make them check out more pages on your website?
- How can you add them to your subscribers list?
- Can you give them platform to connect with you and other users?
2. Create multiple landing pages : These landing pages are meant to only convert. So technically they should be “art in copywriting”. Every element that you add to these page should sell it to your visitors. Talking about copywriting is out of the scope for this blog post.
3. Add call to action to most visited pages : It’s common sense that you should put products on display where people are already congregating. So why shouldn’t you add call to action to pages which are already receiving bulk of your traffic?
Use call to action of any kind to sell one of your multiple landing pages. The other option is to get them to your list.
Make sure your offer matches these pages. That’s copywriting 101
4. Add multiple levels of selling : If you are just starting out then this might not be option. But as you grow with the website, start create multiple offers which sells at multiple levels.
In simple, create Up-sells, Down-sells, Back end products, monthly specials, etc to try to convert more visitors into your selling pipe line.
Like I said, it all comes down to your monetization strategy. When you start doing all of these, then you’ll realize how fun marketing to people can be. Its as addicting as any video game. This numbers game is really exciting.
