Zero - 150 Unique Visitors in 8 days.
I’ve been posting on this blog on how article marketing still produce favorable results. If you remember in one of my old post on “Does Article Marketing Work?” It took me 12 days to get around 150 visitors a day. This time around with my new blog it took me just few days.
Why Do you think I am doing a case studies on new websites?
Simple because I want to show my readers that you can get traffic to new websites with basic techniques that I’ve been showing you on this blog all long.
as you can see my traffic touched 134 in 6th day and on 8th it crossed 150. All it took me Daily blog posting and article submitting. Nothing fancy, Nothing too scientific, just plain old vanilla basics.
But if you are sold on to the idea of “The Secret”, All of what I show it to you here can’t help you.
Google Killed Widget Baiting
Have you been trying widget baiting? You know where you ask others to put your badge or your code for the sake of link building SEO. You can create a simple script which have a link back to your site and rank for your keywords. That’s not such a bad idea… but google recently killed it.

How to spice up your articles and get them read?
Here’s how to spice up your article marketing efforts. Though of course these points have been discussed million times so far, yet we tend to make mistakes. This 6 point list will refresh & jog your memory.
1) Use short paragraphs. When the paragraph are very long, the words get jumbled in the mind of the reader just looking at it It can get quite confusing and too much of a hard work to read. The reader will just quickly disregard the paragraph and move on to much easier reading articles that are good to look at as well as read. Paragraphs can be a single sentence, sometimes even a single word!
2) Make use of numbers or bullets. As each point is stressed out, numbers and bullets can quickly make the point easy to remember and digest. As each point, tip, guide or method is started with a bullet or point, readers will know that this is where the tips start and getting stressed.
3) Use Sub-headings to sub-divide your paragraphs in the page. Doing this will break each point into sections but still would be incorporated into one whole article. It would also be easy for the reader to move on from one point to another; the transition would be smooth and easy. You will never lose your readers attention as well as the point and direction to where the article is pointing.
4) Provide a good attention-grabbing title or header. If your title can entice a person’s curiosity you’re already halfway in getting a person to read your article. Use statements and questions that utilize keywords that people are looking for. Provide titles or headers that describe your articles content but should also be short and concise.
Use titles like, “Tips on making her want you more”, or “How to make her swoon and blush” .You could also use titles that can command people, for example, “Make her yours in six easy Ways”. These types of titles reach out to a persons’ emotions and makes them interested.
5) Keep them interested from the start to the finish. From your opening paragraph, use real life situations that can be adopted by the reader. Use good descriptions and metaphors to drive in your point, just don’t over do it. Driving your examples with graphic metaphors and similes would make it easy for them to imagine what you are talking about. Making the experience pleasurable and enjoyable for them.
6) Utilize figures when necessary and not just ordinary and insipid statements. Using specific facts and figures can heighten your article because it makes it authoritative. But do not make it too formal, it should be light and easy in them and flow. Like a friendly teac her having a little chat with an eager student.
Traffic Tactics 7: Indexing and Starting traffic
In this article, we’ll discuss 2 key points of getting traffic. First is Indexing and Second is getting starting traffic.
Indexing…
Couple of years ago, Internet marketers declared blog and ping technique as the Holy grail of getting traffic. According to them this technique had no equal… later they deemed it dead when marketers started abusing this method.
Why I am talking about this instead of indexing?
If you understand indexing then you can tell why blog and ping is important. Google has basically 2 types of Bot spiders. One is for indexing new content and other is its main Spider which take care of ranking etc. Your Indexing will deal with first kind of spider.
If your content is brand new and google comes to your website & notice it. It’ll be added to their new content “databank”. To be indexed or found by this spider, you need an incoming link to your website(or specially to the new content page). After indexed google knows that you have new content. This is what you should understand when we are talking about indexing from now on.
Now understand this, unless your pages are indexed in google, you cannot get organic traffic. That’s why I am stressing so much on indexing.
Getting indexed is not tough at all… If you have a regular updated blog, then you can get your new content indexed in matter of few minutes. All you have to do is blog and give link to your content. That’s it. And this is what blog is ping is all about. Its not holy grail of getting traffic. But you can call it holy grail of indexing for sure.
Note : Blog has a pinging system with blog search engines which let them know about new updated content almost immediately.
The thing is this blog & ping technique is going to be your major focus. Of BTW, don’t take too much into indexing too. You see, indexing is about getting spiders know of your content existence, so this doesn’t bring any traffic (sometimes this can bring if your article is focussed on long tail keywords).
Indexing becomes more important when you have more than just few pages (I used to start with at least 30-40 pages of content in new website). So you have to make sure your linking structure and incoming links to your articles/content is proper.
Here are other methods of indexing your website content fast.
- Blog and ping : We just discussed this. Create a blog on your website, no matter what kind of website it is…
- Using google sitemaps: If you go to google webmasters page, you can upload your sitemap and let google know about your every single page of content. www.xml-sitemaps.com/ is one site where you can go and create XML sitemaps to be uploaded for google.
Oh you can use google sitemap plugin for your wordpress blog and create sitemaps too (that’s why I am telling you to start a blog)
- Using Articles :You can submit articles to ezine directories and link back indvidually to each page of your content.
I prefer to use all the above strategies. Why? because it create just another way to get to my content. And all the above strategies ultimately work in long term. Oh I almost forgot, blog and ping is not dead like the rumors says and chances of it dieing in next few years is pretty less.
Getting Starting traffic.
After you have gotten all your pages indexed(it should take you anywhere from an hour to 48-72 hrs). You have to start worrying about getting your first traffic as just getting indexed will not bring you whatsoever.
One of the fastest way to get traffic is using Adwords and Yahoo Search marketing. Yes it’s Pay Per click type of traffic. You can set it up and start getting traffic in matter of few hours.
Now often beginner in internet marketing starts very conservatively. They have this belief, why waste money when there are free ways to get traffic. Now that’s true, but even implementing free methods will take time.
For example, if you don’t have a Platinum account on Ezinearticles, your articles will take 5-7 days to be published on ezinearticles.com.
You need to spend at least couple of hundred dollar to get your press releases published by Google, Yahoo news and other websites (free press releases doesn’t work that good). Moreover, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get targeted traffic that’ll buy whatever you are selling.
Of course all of these methods works in long term (sometimes short term too, if you know what you are doing). But PPC is sure shot way to getting targeted traffic.

I hope you decided to use adwords traffic method because its powerful. If you are ready then download Adwords Made easy ebook and print it out. Read it at least couple of times. This is the best education you can get on adwords (trust me, its better than few of the paid ebooks out there). There is only one Paid guide that I can remember is good enough for beginners/intermediate or advance marketers. Its called Campaign Blast Method.
Ok here are the few things you should remember while building your adwords campaign.
- Your adwords ad and your landing page should be highly related. This is the advice Mr X(author of adwords blackbook) gave when google slapped around marketers implementing arbitrage. Actually this slap killed business that were’nt build on solid foundation. Google adwords is not for quick fast money. Think of it as a business builder.
- Focus on one keyword (one ad) per landing page. This is something that has worked with me. I do not try to implement many keywords in one ad and then use one landing page. I always try to be make sure I am following first advice to the core.
Of course this takes more time and effort and I know for sure, many people won’t put this much efforts.
- Focus of multiple keywords, long tail keywords. At least have a list of few hundred keywords which you can go out and create adwords ad on.
- Don’t worry about people preaching against “name squeeze pages” on landing page. You can build list using this method.
- Test your adwords ad copy. Keep close eye on the ads you are converting. If you cannot afford testing software or other top adwords software then just focus on basic A/B split testing.
- Immediately prune adwords ads that are not generating any profit for you.
- Last important tip: Find out how much you can spend on PPC. Another $5 /day will not work. If you are worried, you’ll spend too much on PPC, then you shouldn’t play this game. Don’t forget if you think you are spending too much, then you can immediately stop the campaigns.
Do whatever it takes to become an adword expert. This is a great skill like Copywriting or selling which will help you succeed in internet marketing.
Phew, I am finished. So today’s advice was on getting indexed properly (understanding blog and ping) and getting starting traffic.
Traffic Tactics 7: Thinking about Long term
As Promised I am going to give you 7 day fix to build massive traffic. Please remember, they are not quick fix or magic tricks that’ll bring truckloads of people to your website.
Here are few reasons if you are not getting traffic to your website…
- Not a targeted Niche : If you start with home business as your main keyword, you have really stiff competition. Don’t be surprised if you don’t have enough traffic.
- Not targeting keywords
- No Search engine optimization done on your website (not even basic one).
- Not spending time on regular marketing
- Do not have process to check your marketing methods.
Of course the list doesn’t stop just here, but I have found these common reasons in almost every single website devoid of traffic. Now all we have to do is fix these issues and we’ll get traffic.
Building Traffic is about Planning.
One of the biggest mistake webmasters do is they forget to plan this little detail. They are giving site design, their logos and what not more preference over some basic planning of website traffic. If you are serious about this then here are few things you should do before you even start building a website.
1. Find out where your prospects gather.
2. Find out key influencers (people) in this group.
3. Find out what kind of tactics other webmasters are using to get attention of these groups.
4. Find out how you can differentiate yourself.
1. Building a Regular Promotion Schedule
Every promotion you do no matter how small it is, will go a long way towards building traffic to your website. So You have to include posting on forums, blogs, link building etc in your regular promotion schedule. For example your weekly schedule should look like this…
Monday : Article marketing, write on forums
Tuesday: Link building, blog marketing
Wednesday: Looking for joint ventures, forums
and so on… Now this promotion schedule is not complicated at all… For example, it doesn’t take more than 30 minutes to write a good article and post it to article directories. Or if you take a look at joint venture, it doesn’t take much time to email other webmasters with a simple request.
So my point is to promote yourself on daily basis. No matter how small the technique is, promote yourself. In this blog, I get more traffic from forums, blogs and other websites than from organic searches.
2 : What if Your not targeting a good market
Now, if you are one of those few who have started with a very wide & competitive market, then let me me completely frank with you. Scrap the Idea completely. I have been there, done that and it doesn’t work.
If you know my embarrassing story then you know thanks to this mistake I only made $21.67 after 5 months of efforts. If you cannot scrap this topic for whatever reason, then start a completely new website focusing on a niche.

3. Keywords are your building blocks
When I started 3 years ago, I didn’t cared much about keywords at all. Well, I paid the price in terms of efforts, money I had to spend. It doesn’t matter if you have a website or blog or whatever. You should be focusing on your keywords.
In my “sitebook”, I shared my idea of finding 200 keywords and only then building a website on the topic. I still believe this is the way to go. If you cannot find 200 good keywords you better not waste your time.

I am not going into big tutorial on how to SEO your website. Nope I’ll tell you to work on few things like
Title tag, Description tag, H1, h2 tag throughout your articles/webpage. This is the minimum SEO you need to do on your website to get organic traffic. If you are using good keywords (long tail keywords discussed in the articles above), then you can just use these techniques and start getting traffic in 24 hrs after posting your article online.
SEO experts have made this topic into really complicated, but it isn’t. Focus on basics and you’ll get traffic.
5. Improving conversion on your website.
If you want major success with your websites/blog then you have to work on converting traffic into buyers. Though I confess, I hate the idea of testing (it increases workload and I just hate numbers), but the increase in the bank balance always make me happy.
Before I learnt how to get traffic on demand, I HAD to learn how to improve conversion on my blogs. I had no other way around it. At that time I didn’t had enough money to buy all that taguichi powered testing softwares. So I did very basic A/B split tests to improve more conversion.
I have used every trick I could find to improve conversion. Changed headline, color, font, offer etc. Finally I found something that works with my style of blogs.
The idea of improving conversion is : Think about your Major real estate on your blog or website and give reasons for visitors to act NOW.
One of the Biggest, Fastest way to improve conversion is to create a better offer. That’s it. I might be boasting here but I can create better offer than most of the average marketers (well that includes 90% of the crowd). How did I learnt how to create better offers?
Easy I follow few of the top marketers like
Ewen Chia, late Corey Rudl (Now Derek Gehl), Nitro Marketing guys and so on… Find people who you resonate with.
Look at the way they promote their/affiliate products. Its phenomenal. If you take Ewen Chia as an example, you’ll see him in top 5 (often in top 3) in almost every affiliate promotion he gets into.

1. Use Firefox Search Engines : Right next to your URL, there is a box with G logo, this is one of the search engine built. You might not see the List of search engines I am using right now. So you have to click on the manage search engines.
Next click on the Get more search engines link on the box. You’ll go to a list of search engines. Where you can select all of your favorite search engines that you need to go.
I’ve added yahoo answers, wikipedia in my list for researching and generating content.
How these sites’ll help me?
Simple, whenever you want to write more content and just can’t come up with ideas, then just head over to yahoo answers tab, and search on your topic. You have one of the most powerful system with “content on demand“.

You can use this tool to write more content whenever you are surfing and ideas pop into your head. Great plugin to start with.

some random article marketing tips
Today I am going to post my thoughts & observation on article marketing. I hope this helps you in your traffic building efforts.
1. Results with ezinearticles.com : I have found great results with this website. No surprise there. In fact I am only submitting to this website to generate starting traffic into my website. Here are few things you should remember:
- It normally takes 3-5 days for your article to show up on their site. My turn around is around 3 days.
- Don’t submit your articles close to weekend(i.e thursday/friday). I have noticed it takes more time to get my articles moderated.
- Submit multiple articles at one go to get better results… I found if I submit 2-3 articles one after another. I get better results.
- Don’t use PLR or any other automatic generated articles.
- Use your keywords in your title (they’ll show up on search engines). But don’t go keyword stuffing in your articles.
- Add call to action in your resource box.
- Don’t submit your content from your own website/blog to them. For better results its better if you can submit unique content. Or you can edit 50% of your article and then submit it.
I hope these tips on ezine articles will help you in generating traffic to your website.
2. Mass submission: Mass submission also helps in some ways… but I’d not mass submit ezinearticles article. Nope… I’d create another article to mass submit. I found Isnare.com’s services to be great. Though it takes time with their service (may be they are getting overloaded).
3. Duplicate content:What’s that? I am not worried much about duplicate content. My own goal using unique articles is very simple. I am piggy-backing ezinearticles reputation to get more visitors to my website. Nothing complicated.
4. Quality & Quantity : Like in my earlier post on “Does article marketing work“. I showed you, you have to submit many articles to generate traffic. With the way things are going, I am getting 160+ uniques /day (up from 42/day) with total of 6 articles submitted.
My goal is to submit articles daily for next 60-90 days… With the way things are going, I’ll increase my uniques more than 200+ in this month (hopefully around 300) . In 60-90 days you can get 500+ unique/day with proper article marketing in decent sized niche.
Again, traffic building has been touted as the “Secret art Only for Top guys”. But trust me its easy. I asked one of my friend about his recent niche website (content site). I asked him “How much traffic he’ll be able to get”. His answer was “In six-8 months, I’ll able to get 1000 unique per day”. His only technique is Link building.. that’s it.
Remember guys, its about learning and applying your techniques. I use Article marketing or blogging, My friend uses link building, another one uses forums and classifieds. Its not magic, it’s effort. We put more effort than our competitors than we let on.
Traffic : The Elusive Secret.
This is one of my old newsletter issue. I thought this issue would be really helpful for you. So I am reprinting it here… N`joy.
In some of my previous Newsletters you have learnt a lot about Creating sites, creating Virtual Real Estates (VRE’s), indexing your sites. So I thought Today I should talk about Getting traffic.
In my “Site Book”, I have a complete equation for getting traffic and it looks really complicated, but it is not.
Lets say You have been a good student and have done exactly what I taught you. You have researched your keywords, SEO-ed your web pages and written good content. This is what we call On Page Optimization. Which is basically in our hand.
Now I am going to talk about Off Page Optimization techniques like Back Links.
There are basically many ways you can get back links ie link exchange, paid links, article marketing etc etc…
My favorite way to get links in Link exchanges and Article Marketing. Well sometimes I use press releases too. But Link exchanges and article marketing tops for me./span>
Link exchange : There are many portals which lets you list your sites and exchange links with others. Now I suggest you guys to get links from related sites first as much as possible. But if you get asked for a link exchange from un-related sites, Don’t shy away.
You can give links to un-related sites too. No worries. People often ask me/tell me, their sites will get banned if they link to un-related sites.
If you need to avoid links then Do not link to bad neighbourhood. Check out sites for scrapped content, junk content or sites that are using Black Hat SEO techniques. Do not link to them.
Anyways, Lets talk more about Link exchange. You see whenever I ask anyone for a link exchange or someone asks me for an exchange. I always give them better option than a normal link exchange.
I ask them either for an Article Exchange + Normal Link exchange on Links pages Or
I ask them for Link on their internal articles as my site is related + Normal link exchanges.
Or
I ask them all of the above.
Now why Do I ask this? Well you can guess, any links coming from inside the site is better than coming from just links section. It has more value.
And you know what? No one till date has declined my offer to link exchange in this fashion as they also knows that this is good for their sites too. Understand it by looking at the image.

Now I have 3 incoming links from my sites. Of course I also give them links. What else I do is, sometimes I ask them to link to my specific pages rather than just home page. You can check the 3rd scenario.
Here you can see I am also getting 2 links to my Sub Section 1.
Now this is something that 95% of webmasters don’t do. It has helped me in getting not only good PR but also good traffic.
Another Important thing to take note is about the keywords you use to get link backs. I always vary the relevance of the keywords while getting link back.
Let me explain. Lets say You are using Keyword as “Weight Loss Diet”. Most often people will use this as a link to get link back. If you have your complete keyword anchored then it basically means it have 100% relevance.
Your code will look like this <a href=”yoursite.com”>Weight Loss Diet</a> 100% Keyword relevance.
If you write something like this <a href=”yoursite.com”>Help With Weight Loss Diet</a> Your Keyword relevance is 60%.
All these figures are basically rough calculation for you to understand. Relevance also counts where you keywords figure in the link.
This is where I love SEO Elite. You know when you are doing competitive analysis. You can check what keywords your competitor is using to get link backs. I check my competitors back links and try to get more than them.
ie. If they have 20 back links then I’ll take any random number above 20 and then try to get back links for them. I know other folks doesn’t use this odd method like I do… Everyone have their own methods. But I am just sharing this with you to get an idea on How to work on getting back links.
Phew… We are almost finished with this.
Before I close, I have one last thing to say. Be Consistent. You see I always see questions in forums like “How fast I should get links? What is the magic number for getting link back in a month?”
Well there is no such magic number. All you need to do is be consistent in your method. Keep working on getting links. If you are doing 100 links in a month, then keep getting those links every month…
Only 1 thing to note here is Try to improve your link profile. In your back links you should have links from as many resources or types as you can find. that means include press releases, article marketing, paid links, blog links, directory links etc.

I took my one of my site getting 42 uniques per day to 130 per day in 12 days… I submitted a total of 5 articles during this process.
Article marketing still works… Oh btw do you think I am going to stop article marketing anytime soon?

Step 2 - Draw Readers In With A Stunning Opening Sentence
The opening sentence is the next most important part of your article after it’s title.
It decides if the reader want to read on to find out more.
You can create winning opening sentences by asking questions, stating a fact, or creating curiosity. Examples of each type include.
Question - “Do you know the most effective marketing technique online?”
Fact - “Search Engines account for almost 90% of all web traffic!”
Curiosity - “Something followed as we ventured out into the dimly lit parking lot…”
Step 3 - Talk About The Main Points In The Body Section
Next comes the body section where you should include the main points and important highlights of the article.
Picture it as the juicy main course of the entire sumptuous feast (yummy)
A simple way to do this is by breaking it down into.
Problem 1 -> solution 1 -> problem 2 -> solution 2 , etc.
If you’re creating a ‘tips’ article, you can simply write about each tip in the body section, as with the example here.
Tip 1 -> Tip 2 -> Tip 3 , etc.
The body of your article is essentially where the real ‘meat’ is. So do fill it full of quality content to educate and inform readers.
Step 4 - Summarize With A Call To Action
