It’ll take you only 5 minutes to read that blog post and you can target and use social media without much problem. Go there, print the blog post, read it and then implement it and watch your traffic grow.

To me, it has all become part of the experience that I’ve gotten in last 6 years of marketing online. You might think it’s super hard to get traffic but for someone who is doing it for couple of years will find it easy.

So How do you actually build traffic to your website?

Simple answer is cumulative effect of your promotion will build traffic.

You know my formula (content+3X promotion = traffic). The more you promote your website, more traffic you’ll receive, the higher your chances to increase your traffic.

That’s where most people get it wrong. They try a technique few times and then claim it doesn’t work.

Traffic is all about getting back links. As you get more backlinks, you’ll get traffic. Almost all the techniques are based on this idea.

Getting website traffic is all about figuring out where you customer is and then get them to come to your website. Of course, not all of your customers are in forums, blogs and other web 2.0 properties… they are only fraction of the total crowd.

So Again, it all comes down to the idea of getting more back links to get increased rankings in search engines.

What are the factors that’ll effect your rankings and traffic?

When you are link building here are some basic factors that you have to keep in mind.

1. Link from High quality pages – Links coming from high quality pages will always carry more weight towards your rankings.
2. Age of your link – How long your link has been online will also effect your rankings.
3. Quantity – Most marketers often go for the quantity and they are pretty right too. It’s not bad to build as many links as possible.
4. Anchor text – What your anchor text contains will help you boost your rankings with specific keywords. I personally recommend to focus on few keywords and then build a complete link profile.
5. Sources – How varied your sources are also going to play an important role in this. that’s why quite a few marketers target lots of web 2.0 forums blog and places to get links from.
6. How old the website is – This helps somewhat but is not a major factor.
7. Authority hub – Authority sites link to other authority sites. So if you are getting linked from some of the authority sites, your rankings will dramatically improve.

Remember all links are not equal, as all traffic isn’t equal. Some links caries more weight, some less.

What about no-follow tags?

Personally I am not worried about this. I always says to build as many links as possible. No-follow tags might not help you in your rankings but if you get a link on a high traffic web page, and you are getting traffic. Do you really think you should worry about that no-follow tagged link?

The simple answer is NO.

How to create a natural link profile?

Remember – If you are trying to manipulate link profiles, then you are not building a natural links at all. This is where I suggest you should go aggressively and market yourself. There are always chances some of your site (and links) get picked up and get blasted by others webmasters and bloggers to get loads of links.

Do Not Worry About Building a Natural Profile.

Promote as much as possible, it’ll build automatically.

Take a look at your current article title. It looks capital B BORING. What can you do to make some changes?

First you can add some specific which makes people take notice “How 27 yr old single mom made $4570 in her first month at internet marketing”.

The specifics of 27, single mom, $4570 will make people take notice.

But do you think it generates a curiosity?

I think there are few changes we can make and make it more interesting.

“How 27 yr old single mom used these 3 techniques to generate $4570 in her first month of internet marketing?”

Ok Now it generates some curiosity… Right.

If you keep working on this, you’ll find a headline that’s many times better than either of these two. You should spend 90% of the time in writing a headline.

Why this technique works?

Simple, you are more focussed on writing, then ever. You just start thinking and writing super fast. All of the writers who write faster than others often use variation of what I am going to tell you in this post.

Here’s the secret

“Use Stop watch” and plan to finish an article for 10 minutes.

Notice, I said, “Finish”, not “write” in the above sentence. When you are focussed on finishing you’ll be able to finish the article. Otherwise, you’ll keep writing with focus without any direction.

400 words in 9 minutes

450 words in 10 minutes.

The major goal of your affiliate website is to design a website built around customer needs. There are many factors to be considered to build a site like this.

Build it for Speed – It’s going to help your cause, if you don’t make your websites graphics extensive. These days with graphic optimization, CSS and other resources, you can build a beautifully designed lightweight website in no time.
If you have to add any kind of graphics (flash, streaming audio/videos), then there should be a purpose to have those in place.

Keeping the pulse on the market

If you know and understand your market, you’ll be able to create website that suits your customers needs. When you are targeting your market, your design should reflect it. For example, If you are targeting business professional, make sure to have a website, which looks professional and informative.

Focusing on Key point.

I do not recommend to make a “Comparison” type affiliate websites. If possible, you should focus on one product (or product line related to that product). It’ll help you get focused and create dedicated pre-sell pages for your website.

When you are trying to be everything to everyone, you end up with nobody to noone.

Pre-sell Webpages

Your pre-sell webpages will be a different part of your website, where you are going to promote (or pre-sell) the product/s. These pre-sell pages have lots of copywriting elements that you can use. For example. Statement of proof (video, audio or pictures) can be added. Or you can show the product in use (A video).

There are many ways, you can add elements which further helps people to trust you and your recommendations.

Content – Content is King

There can be never enough Extra content on your website. You should aim to provide extra content that’ll help you promote and pre-sell affiliate products.

In most markets, a training section related to the product can be really helpful.

Next thing about content is that you have to provide content on regular basis. Keep updating your website and promoting it.

Consistency in content, design, promotion.

You have to consistent in your design elements, content elements and promotion activities. If you are not consistent, you’ll not get regular traffic and chances of converting them into sales is going to be very low.

Conversion of your website

When you have place all these elements in your website, then you can get started on working and improving your conversion rate of pre-sell or content.

Again, all these elements are powerful individually, but taken together they can be really really powerful.

Why You should use link building as one of the major strategy?

The answer is simple, It’s boring, yet it works. It has been working since internet started. I personally know a webmaster who does nothing else but build links consistently to get massive traffic. Keyword here being “Consistently”. This guy sold one of his website for $100,000.

I am not dissing any other strategies in this article. I just want you to open your eyes to the power of link building.

What exactly is link building profile?

When I think of building links, I think of incoming links from all over the web. Think of links as an owning a part of the internet. The more incoming links are linking towards your website, the higher your website being spotted. So the things/elements, I tend to include in linking profile are :

Traditional 2 way links
Traditional 1 way links
Links coming from blogs
Coming from articles (I am not including any kind of syndication)
Coming from forums
Coming from web 2.0 properties
Links from social bookmarks
Links coming from videos
links coming from software submission

How can you build a powerful link profile?

Simple, spend some time everyday to get some links. You only need 50–75 links per week to start seeing some results in your rankings. It’s not hard at all.. The only thing I dread about link building is “it’s darn boring”.

It feels like My IQ drops few points every hour when I do this. (Note: You can always outsource this)

What kind of results can you expect?

Again, it’s hard to guess something like this. This is long term strategy. If you are focussing on right keywords, then you’ll start seeing some ups and downs in ranking. It’ll take few months before your rankings/results actually settle down and give you general idea.

If you are generating 50 links per week, In 6 months you have 1200 links to your website (I am still not including syndication services like articles, audio, video, bookmarking etc).

I personally don’t know if you are going to engage in IQ dropping activity (LOL). But I ask you to not underestimate the power of links. I personally few of the guys who spent most of their efforts of link building aggressively and then got into top ranks in few months for a very competitive market.

Then you submitted them to various top article directories. It’s been few days since you submitted, there’s no traffic, list building and no chances of sales at all.

You remember marketer’s promising you the moon if you use article marketing. So where do you went wrong?

You wouldn’t be surprised to see lots of people is forum dissing article marketing. Frankly speaking they are not wrong at all. They just don’t know.

I believe there are 4 major reason why your article didn’t get the results you expected?

1. Bad Quality Article – Now there is not much to say about it. Even on some very highly moderated sites like ezinearticles.com you’ll see quite a few bad quality articles. There can be many reasons why anyone would think that article is not good.

2. Bad Title/ Headline – Whenever you write and post articles, you article is competing with tons of other articles. What are your chances of been seen?

Your article title is most important in at least getting acquainted with your readers. It should urge the reader to open your article and read. If it’s not doing that, then the title is not doing it’s job properly.

3. No Flow at all – Articles are supposed to have a flow in them. People who are reading it should start at the beginning and slide all the way down to your author bio box and click the link. That’s why you need flow in the article.

Now this is little hard to spot in your articles. You’ll find sometimes, you articles have jumps, hiccups and road blocks which often effects your click through on your bio box. It takes practice to get good at spotting them.

4. Bad Author Bio Box – I believe over 95% of bio boxes aren’t as good as people believe. I can even some of my own in that list. Frankly speaking writing a good author bio box is like an art. Unless you practice a lot and understand it intimately, you aren’t going to write a good one.

Even after writing 100’s of article, sometimes I get stuck in this zone. There are cookie cutter approach that you can use. But they only go so long.

Well as you can see, these are just 4 reasons why your article doesn’t get results? You can learn to write high quality, unique articles with my article writing secrets.

Don’t worry, in this series I’ll be sharing stuff that’ll help you guide through and avoid the same pitfalls as above.

In this article, I am going to show you what factors will help you improve your visibility in search engines.

1. Site structure – One of the first thing you should worry about is site structure. I do not recommend using complex site structure. For example yoursite.com/myarticles/my-specialarticles/article1.html I often like to keep most of my content under main folder (i.e. yoursite.com/myarticles.html).

When you do this, chances of happening bad broken links goes way down. You do not have to remember the complete path of each and every article.

Even if you are using any kind of CMS, you should use simple file path for your files. If you are using CMS, chances are there are not much broken links.

2. Site Map – Create a site map for your website or blog. Use this sitemap as a guide tool for your visitors, rather than search engines. These days, search engines have become very smart, they’ll be able to index all of your web pages easily.

3. RSS Sitemap – You should also create a RSS based sitemap for your website. RSS based sitemap will help you ensure good indexing in all the search engines. This file is basically read by bots, not by humans. This file should be automatically updated whenever you add new content and submitted to search engines. There are many services that’ll do this for free.

4. Content – Believe it or not, your content is going to play huge part. I often recommend all my clients to write (or get) at least content for next 30 days. It helps to create a trickle of content overtime for next 6–8 months for a new website. If possible, get as much content as possible

5. Cornerstone Web 2.0 properties – You should also think about creating at least 1 web 2.0 property in your market(squidoo, hubpages to name a few). This will help you get more of your content out there on internet.

As you can see, there are only 5 things you need to prepare. You might be surprised how many webmasters forget one or two of these. There are more things you can do, but if you just follow the above advice, you are leagues ahead of other webmasters in your market.

So should you give up on this Or be ready to take the bull by horns?

Now if you’ve been reading any of my blog posts/articles on SEO, you know how much I favor doing the basics (Title, h1, description tags etc). When it comes to give a little boost to my rankings with some carefully planned articles, then I think it’s worth spending your time.

Let’s differentiate what You should do differently than people who get slapped by Google.

1. Manipulate or not? That is the question - Understand, when you are writing an article on any keyword, you are trying to manipulate Search engines in one form or another. The people who got slapped silly were the ones who took this manipulation to the extreme.

2. Think about the visitors First – Even if you are writing an article to attract search engine traffic. ALWAYS write an article from a reader’s perspective. It’ll not only hurt your conversion but also work against you as the content will not be of higher quality.

3. What does Google actual wants - Now if you are searching for something on Google, what does it actually wants to serve you? Google wants to give you as close to content you are looking for. So if you somehow manipulate your rankings and do not provide the right content match, then chances of losing the rankings are very high.

When you start writing with keeping in mind about your main goal (Visitors First, Best Content Match for Google and then add writing for search engines), You’ll get good results.
