Sorry for not updating for last few days…

I have been trying to update this blog as frequently as possible in 2008. But for last week or so I couldn’t. My father got into small accident and had to undergo a simple surgery. Though surgery was minor but I just couldn’t get myself to write. Well now everything is the way it should be so I am here updating my blog again.

Well, To start off this blog again, I am starting “Traffic Tactics 7″ where I’ll share tactics/ strategies to build traffic for next 7 days. That means one tactic per day. I’ll be post today’s tactic later in the evening (I am working on it). If you want to build traffic to your website. You better keep your eyes on next 7 days on this blog.

Do You hate Re:?

I was checking my emails just now and I was noticed I get tons of emails with a headline starting with

Re: Your headline goes here….

Now Re basically suggest that someone wrote back to your email and often make you open these emails (to follow the conversation).

Frankly speaking this is really underhanded way of getting attention. About a year ago they were using “You made a sale” or “You got a commission”. I remember I un-subscribed from almost every guy’s list who sent me with this headline.

I sometime wonder if marketers think we are stupid dumb farts?

If you are using these kind of tactics, you might get a few emails open but people will become blind to these tactics sooner or later.

Attention Marketers : How about becoming honest for a change?

I learnt most of my email-ing techniques from Jimmy D brown. Frankly speaking his methods works like gangbusters in every niche. I get High open rates for this website and other websites. When I am saying High, I do not mean 30-40% open rates… No even better than those.

If you check people like Ewen Chia, they are not using these tactics… I have a swipe file of his email from last 2-3 years. He isn’t using these tactics. Do you wonder why?

If you are a marketer out of ideas and using these tactics. Here’s how to become better email-writer.

Step 1: Get a new gmail account. Yes that is necessary.

Step 2: Subscribe to every marketer you know of in varieties of markets too. Try dating, health, Internet marketing, self defense etc.

Step 3: Notice which emails you read and figure out WHY? Why did you opened that email? Why did you read that one and clicked on the link.

Step 4: Start using same tactics that worked on you. You want people on your list, who are like you, who shares same thoughts… So you’ll be sure that these people will open your emails.

See was it really that hard to get new ideas? Nope… So don’t be lazy. I know marketers wants to be lazy and get cash while they are sleeping… but sometimes you should wake up and see the light.

The Easiest way to make killing on internet

Last year I trained someone on how to make killing with internet marketing. I was talking to this guy, he is another Indian I met by chance. He was telling me, how easy it is and How stupid he was to never listened(actually follow) to do things I told him to. If he had done earlier what I told him to, he’d be stinking rich by now…

Now the story behind all this is very simple… He asked me about the Easiest way to make money on internet. And I Told him the secret. For first 7 months he didn’t do what I told him to. Then one day in frustration he finally tried it.

When he did, he was able to generate $4800 in one week. Thats 7 days. thats 685$ a day. Oh did I told you, No list, No JV’s etc.
Don’t you think thats crazy??? and all this time he was saying how what I am saying is hardest thing to do… But You know sometimes the hardest paths are easy to follow. He finally found out.. I guess he’s not going back to other ways any soon.

Actually he was not wrong, I, myself used to think that this might be the toughest thing to do. I think he could have made some more as I was able to find many mistakes he did in those 7 days.

Don’t you think thats amazing. Though I believe he could have made more if he was prepared.

So today I am going to share This Hard Path with you. Do you know what it is?
Its very simple. You create a product and sell it.. HuH..!!!??? Don’t believe your ears?

But lemme comment on the Easiest Path. You see people tends to believe that If they are creating Adsense Sites they don’t have to work as hard as making a product.

Listen to me, The method which you used to create adsense sites is not at all different than create products and marketing it. Lemme give you a fast overview on the both methods.

Adsense Creation method :

Discover niche -> Find Keywords -> Generate Content -> Write Articles -> Optimize articles -> Bring traffic -> Monetize traffic.

Product marketing Method :

Discover niche -> Find Keywords -> Generate Content -> Create Product -> Set up an autoresponder -> Bring traffic -> Monetize traffic.

You see there is no difference. In place of writing articles you are creating a product. And in place of optimizing articles you are putting up autoresponder on your site. If you want to know how to create instant products then read my earlier post on “Creating product is easy

For the same traffic, you can get better rewards with Product Marketing. As You’ll have many chances to sell it to your visitor (if you are creating your subscribers list).

So How to go about Marketing a Product?

Today I am going to give you some thoughts about this kind of marketing. and then We’ll start the series based on this topic. I’ll be discussing finer details of the steps involved. So Here you go…

If you create a product based on what you like, or what you think people will like, you will be extremely lucky to sell one single copy, and you’ll probably have to bribe the person to buy it!

By finding a small segment of a much larger market in which people are actively buying, and where there are not too many competitors, is the best chance you have of making money from selling your own product.

The only way to create niche products or services that become best sellers is to discover what your potential customers want.

What problems are they facing that you can solve.

What pain are they experiencing that you can soothe.

You have to uncover your potential customers needs, their pain, even their dreams and aspirations.

There are some ways to get this information…

  • Use the search engines to find a number of forums related to the niche your’re interested in.Visit these forums regularly and find out what questions people are asking and how often they are asked.
  • The same question asked by many different people on many different forums is a possible topic for your product or service.
  • If you own an opt-in email list, send a brief survey to your subscribers to discover the problems they are facing.
  • If a common problem emerges from your survey, providing the solutions to this problem is a possible topic for your product or service.
  • If you don’t own an opt-in email list, you could send a solo advertisement to a few ezines with a large subscriber base and invite people to take part in your survey by offering a useful reward for their participation.
  • If you own a website which receives a lot of traffic, you could use a popup to invite people to your survey.

Wordtracker.com is one of the most useful research tools on the internet. You can use it to uncover what people are searching for on the internet.Not only that, you can use it to find out how often people search for different topics. It is a great tool for discovering niche markets.

On its own, Wordtracker is unlikely to point you to your next best seller, but when used in conjunction with surveys you have a very powerful research tool.

Private Label Rights is by far the quickest method of creating your own product. The only real disadvantage is other people will be using the same content as their own, so if you use the contents “as is” you won’t have a unique product.

Do a search for public domain products and once you have found one purchase a copy and have it digitized (made into an e-book). Matt Furey has made million dollars from one of the public domain product.

If a product is in the public domain, it means the copyright on it has expired and you are free to use the contents.

You can copyright your new digitized product, meaning nobody can sell copies in that particular format.

There are many ways to start off your own business on Internet. But You need to have a Blueprint or a method which can help you start properly. If you look around this blog, then you know I have even shared simple blue prints too.

Creating your product is very easy… Trust me… I have done it many times over

Like if you read this blog, you’ll find how easy it is to create your product. In fact I know methods where you can create and start selling in like 30 minutes or less. I stole this idea from porn producers and this is ingenious. I don’t believe people in internet marketing are so far behind these guys. Read this blog post carefully to the end to find out about this.

Start typing and don’t stop typing until you finish it… All it requires is effort to finish it. I believe most people cry and whine because they are just being an excuser.
1. Most people don’t even start.
2. If they do, They don’t have faith in their abilities.

4. If they do and still fail, they quit.

Am I just pulling your leg? No… This is exactly what I did to create a recent audio recording on fitness training. Of course, your first time will be horrible… but try again… after couple of tries, you’ll be able to record a decent audio.

Social Media = Useless traffic?

On 1st feb, I wrote this long blog post about social media and its myth. As you can guess, I am wondering about this so called “Social” traffic. With the buzz of launch of $1000+ products created more buzz and everyone is wondering if its really the right way to go?

Marketers will sell you what is selling (heck I tell you do so too). And if a bunch of baloney is selling… they’ll sell it…

If you remember in my old post when I got stumbled. I really asked the merit of this traffic.

I talked to few guys who got dugg, stumbled and few other phenomenons like that… according to them it feels good by getting traffic like that… good ego boost. But unless its really targeted, the traffic is not of much value.

Businessweek.com recently (7th feb) published an article Generation myspace is getting fed up . Here’s something for you to read.

Uh-oh. Social networking was supposed to be the Next Big Thing on the Internet. MySpace, Facebook, and other sites have been attracting millions of new users, building sprawling sites that companies are banking on to trigger an online advertising boom. Trouble is, the boom isn’t booming anymore. Like Heritage, many people are spending less time on social networking sites or signing off altogether.

And something more

Google, which has a $900 million guaranteed deal with MySpace for placing ads alongside search results, says existing ad approaches aren’t working well on social networks so far. “I don’t think we have the killer, best way to advertise and monetize social networks yet,” said Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Here’s the most interesting tidbits…

Social networks have some of the lowest response rates on the Web, advertisers and ad placement firms say. Marketers say as few as 4 in 10,000 people who see their ads on social networking sites click on them, compared with 20 in 10,000 across the Web. Mark Seremet, president of video game publisher Green Screen, stopped advertising on MySpace last spring because of a 13-in-10,000 response rate. “It’s really hard to make money on that anemic click-through rate,” says Seremet.

If google an internet giant hasn’t figured out how to make killing with these, how do you think a local marketer will fare? Anyways you should read that article…

In fact, in the last month, one page generated over 28,000 new visitors. How many of them do you think converted into subscribers.

500? 1,000? 1,500? 2,800?

No! Try 80. That’s a conversion rate of just over 0.2 percent.

Now you can decide if the social buzz is really buzzing or not… Frankly speaking I have only found one way which can help and its not really White hat(so to speak). Its more on the side of mass building (if you know anything about mass building, it is really temporary).

Raise your rankings using mass building techniques using social media and get traffic differently than getting dugg, stumbled or whatever.

In my own test of getting stumbled… I can tell you, you can get few thousands unique in few hours by using funny pictures (specially if they are not already circulated on web). Videos rank a close second… Motivational videos doesn’t generate the kind of response I was expecting.

Do this and you’ll get traffic and may be you can show it to people and sell another “Social media traffic Course” to marketers (darn, I am giving out my own secrets)?

Are You bored and want to stir up some trouble?

If you are seriously bored and want some fun, then I might have something that’ll get you excited and you might learn few new things (who knows may be you don’t)…

The topic is “generating traffic” and Here’s an idea you can use to stir up some trouble…

I have noticed a trend in the marketing forums and got this idea…

Go to any marketing forum and talk about any one of these techniques..

1. Safelists

2. Traffic Generators (ie. traffic swarm)

3. ezine advertising.

4. door way pages (or any of your favorite black hat trick)

The answers you get are likely to be diametrically opposed. This is not only because each marketer has his own product to sell – and it is in his best interest to justify the purpose of that product – but it is also because there has been a genuine debate raging for the past few years about the effectiveness and direction of these traffic generation methods.

These people are like Watchdogs who’ll shut anyone who talks about it (unless anyone happens to be Top name guru). Like For example, you’ll rarely see anyone talking about Ezine advertising or Safelists.

Now interesting thing is that all of the above method works when it comes to building traffic. I have used them (still use them) to get regular traffic to my websites. Heck if you read any of those “101 or 201 techniques for building traffic” guides… You’ll never find any of them mentioned.

Then why I am talking about them?

Well 2 reasons… first is I want to open your mind to other possibilities. Because sometimes there are things hidden right under your noses and you just can’t see it… Stop taking other people’s(including mine) word at face value and test yourself…

My second reason is I am going to talk about few unconventional methods that will help you build traffic, increase conversion and much more… You’ll see few of these methods on this blog in next few days… I want you to try some of these and check the results by yourself.

Btw if You don’t know who John is, then you are missing on great nuggets of wisdom in marketing. I stumbled on to his ezine last year. He’s not only top marketer but also produce excellent software(his infamous Joint Venture manager, affiliate system is good example) . Read his blog, subscribe to his ezine and thank me later. ;)

5 Must Read books for Internet Marketers

If you are an internet Marketer or looking to become one, then I am going to recommend you my top 5 list. Heck if you read all of these, its about time, you dust it off the shelf and read it again.

And for a change I am not going to list the all time favorites like scientific advertising or other oldies…

Getting Everything You can out of all You’ve got by Jay Abraham : This is one book that I keep close in reach. All the old/new concepts are in this book. For a $12+ this is great crash course in Jay Abraham Marketing methods. Most of his products costs more than arm and leg.

The Great Formula By Mark  Joyner :  Frankly speaking this book will make the Marketing process so darn easy to understand that you’ll worry about its authencity at all. Only 3 steps of formula. Create offer, give it to thirsty crowd and sell a second glass.

simple? isn’t it… But I highly recommend you to read this book.

Attention Age Doctrine 2.0 by Rich Shefren : Now granted this manual by Rich is more of a promotional material for his upcoming products and launches BUT I still recommend you to read this. Why? Because it’ll make you think about the way you are doing your business.

Advertising secret of Written Word by Joe Sugarman : You must have heard about this book.  He’s talking about direct sales and copywriting a lot in this one. Again a must read for everyone.

Ogilvy onAdvertising by David Ogilvy : This is one of those books that everyone should read it few times. His writing is captivating & his ideas, timeless. The information in this book is easily work 10 times the cover price.

Other important notes: These books are not in any order.  Plus you might argue that Rich’s ebook cannot be grouped in this list but I disagree. I recommend Attention age doctrine because he’s talking a lot about changing times and how internet had made a difference in web 2.0. I am not recommending this because I am promoting him. Nope.

I want you to start thinking differently. I talked about social networking hype/myth and how people are using internet earlier in one of my post. Unless you start thinking differently you’ll have hard time with web 2.0.

I wanted to add lot more to the list. But I am keeping this list short. You’ll find everything you need to know about marketing in just these 5 books.

There is No Failure in Trying…

I was reading Derek Gehl’s Blog on Marketing Tips. On his blog There is an article written by Jenn Blanchard about 7 topics for a killer viral eBook

Of course she makes great points on writing a killer viral ebook. But a reader on the blog made a really negative comment

If I had valuable information, or if I had the contacts in an industry that you mentioned, I would not be reading your ad in search of a good part-time business. Information on the internet has always been free; that’s why so many people use the net.

When I read that… I wondered how many people must have thought the same way. I responded to that post (which you can read but I’ll copy and paste it here, don’t you worry).

My Comment:

Although this is good advice but I think people reading James snow comment might feel discouraged. as He said, he doesn’t have any connections or info.

But anyways there is no certainty in viral marketing. You have to implement these kinds of methods many time to get that 1 lucky shot that’ll bring you tons of traffic. If your ebook doesn’t get viral. Try once again. If that fails too, try again.

You never fail if you try.. You’ll learn more about getting traffic. There is No Failure in Trying.

Now this is true for all the businesses, in education, in life. You’ll never exactly fail while trying. Failure is a learning process. Don’t forget You’ll fell many times before learning how to stand. Today walking is automatic process for you. If you had stopped trying before you learnt standing… You’d be spending rest of your life on your asses.

She gave 7 techniques to write a viral ebook

Idea #1: Industry update report
Idea #2: Industry resource guide
Idea #3: Interviews with industry experts

and so on…

If I was working on this idea, I’d have tried any of the above tip and created a viral ebook. If somehow I failed, I would contemplate what exactly went wrong and try again. In fact I’d have tried all the above methods of write viral ebooks before just signing these ideas as useless.

In fact I’d have researched my own why some people can cause tons of viral traffic. If you notice there are few factors that makes it happen.

Often content is one of the main reasons of making things viral.

  • Notice all the people who make things happen in your industry.
  • Notice How they are doing things.
  • Model their behaviour and repeat success (I said model not copy)

If you are reader of my blog, then you know I advocate lot of Hard work and Then Expectation to succeed.

Work Hard, Expect to Win - is my motto. Even if I am winning I’ll work hard. Why ? Cause its FUN.

If you go over to James Brausch’s blog at Jamesbrausch.org, you’ll be forced to read the above formula. Frankly speaking this formula sums up everything you need to know about succeeding in business.

If you are missing any of the elements you’ll not succeed. Any other combination will never work. But still people are TRYING hard not to complete this formula. They are either spending too much time on copywriting or on creating product or may be trying to get traffic.

Copywriting + Product = No Success

Traffic + Product = Low success

Traffic + Copywriting + = No Success

Learn One way to Generate traffic Again I have used 2-3 techniques and got tons of traffic to my websites. Just pick one way first and learn how to do it consistently. If you listen to my podcast on Dirty little Secret than you’ll know I discuss about a guy who made $800 in his first month ever.

Learn one way to write copy. Rather than jumping from one copywriting product or copywriting methodology to another. You are better off with only learn One way to creating copy. As for me, I try to follow QUEST method that Michel Fortin explains. More on his 7 Step copywriting formula.

I think no one has explained the Internet business as easier than this.

Get Traffic. Create product Add good copywriting and you are off to your first success.
