Day 3 : Relation with Themed Keywords and Latent Semantic Analysis(LSA).
I was supposed to update the blog yesterday but I couldn’t. So You gotta forgive me for that. Ah, I am down with really bad cold. I had really bad headache from cold… So bad even my hair hurts… So here’s next installment to Day 2 keywords…
Like I said in my earlier post, you’ll sink or swim, depending on how you implement this step. Lets understand the relationship between keywords and LSA (Latent Semantic Analysis).
I gave you 3 different types of keyword. Main Keywords, Secondary and Helping Keywords.
Whether you are creating a content site or using content as a bait to generate traffic (Submitting article ala bum marketing). You have to understand this simple relationship between keywords.
Let’s understand how people use wordtracker or other keyword research tools.
You see, when you have chosen your main keyword (ie Internet Marketing), Your secondary keywords will be directly related to them. What exactly I mean by that?
For example, Lets take Internet Marketing tips for beginners(check out the pic).

You can notice, that we have a keyword “Internet Marketing” right there in the secondary keywords after our main keywords.
This is exactly the point where lots of webmasters who are doing keyword research stops.
If these guys are creating a website, they’ll create an optimized page for each and every single word on the list.
If you want to beat these guys & generate some traffic then you have to use something called LSA. It’s not a new shiny term, in fact this is about 10 year old algorithm (you can look more at wikipedia).
So if you want to succeed you have to take that extra step. And LSA is exactly the step you are going to need. LSA is basically your algorithm in natural language processing. In simple words, its trying to be more like human conversation.
Its really unatural, if I am going to use a specific keyword again and again in every other line. Do you talk like this if you are talking about weight loss to a friend?
For weight loss, you need to…
to help you with weight loss,…
best weight loss tips… etc etc…
The answer is No…. You are going to jump between many synonyms or other related words that you both can understand… isn’t that right?
So the good thing about writing content which is optimized, is that you are already implementing LSA in your writing. But if you know what you are doing, then you can implement this much better and effectively. Right?
This is exactly What I want? Which leads us to understanding the “Helping keywords”. Helping keywords are your LSA keywords which are related to our main keywords or our secondary keywords.
Why I am stressing so much them?
You see, There was some sort of data published by ask.com or another search engine. Where they claimed that 50% of the keywords that are used on daily basis are completely new to them. And chances are they are only once a lifetime keywords. So when you are optimizing these keywords will help you land quite a few visitors to your website.
You won’t believe what kind of keywords people use to get to my websites or blogs. And that’s same for everyone.
Check out this pic for more understanding.
These lines represents the relationship between the keywords. Now your helping words can be related to either main or secondary or both at the same time. For example, If I am talking about “Home based internet marketing in Michigan”, I can also call it as “Freelancing on internet in Michigan” or Internet Freelancer in Michigan or something other weird combinations…
So while you are doing your keyword research, try out find out synonyms or other words that can represent your main and secondary keywords. This list of keywords will help you while you’ll be optimizing your articles and website.
Here is your Keyword Research Checklist. It’s in PDF form, It’ll help you while researching.
My Next blog post will be on Long tail keywords.
